Local Backup

Local Backup
There are several ways to back up files and folders from devices on the local network to a CTERA Cloud Storage Gateway:
CTERA Agent. See Centrally Managing CTERA Agents.
This is a software agent that you install on each local machine. CTERA Agent is a powerful backup client that lets you perform application back up and disk level backup as well as backing up any specific selection of files.
Clientless Backup
Clientless backup enables you to back up files from any computer on your network to a share on the C-Series gateway, without requiring installation of a software agent on the remote computer. Computers you back up from must support Windows File Sharing (CIFS). It is possible to configure a Mac to support clientless backup.
Replication Rules. See Replication Rules.
These are rules you set up to periodically replicate files between the cloud storage gateway and other devices in either direction. Replication rules are not limited to the local network. They also work for remote replication.
For example, you can set up your cloud storage gateway to copy a certain folder on a daily basis to an external USB drive.
Note: Replication rules support replicating data between network computers using a variety of methods, including Windows File Sharing (CIFS), WebDAV, and RSync. You can also use replication rules to keep a local backup of a local folder.
