Network and power connections are made via the P1200's rear panel.

The P1200 rear panel contains the following elements:

Description

SSD Bays

Two SSD bays for installing SSDs.

The SSDs are hot-swappable; that is, you can replace an SSD while the appliance is on.

Power Supplies

Two power supplies.

The power supplies are hot-swappable; that is, you can replace a power supply while the appliance is on.

Ethernet Ports

Two Ethernet ports used for connecting the CTERA Portal to your Ethernet LAN switch or router.

Connect the Ethernet cables provided in the CTERA Portal package to these ports.

For best performance, use a Gigabit-capable Ethernet switch.

eSATA

An eSATA port used for connecting the CTERA Portal to a SATA drive.

USB 2.0 Ports

Four USB 2.0 ports used for connecting USB drives.

Note that you can connect more than four USB drives, by connecting a powered USB hub. Be sure to use a powered hub, in order to avoid exceeding the power capacity of the USB ports.
