Local Backup and Restore
There are several ways to back up files and folders from devices on the local network to a gateway:
CTERA Agent
A software agent that you install on each local machine. CTERA Agent is a powerful backup client that lets you perform application back up and disk level backup as well as backing up any specific selection of files.
Clientless Backup
Enables you to back up files from any computer on your network to a share on C200 and C400 gateways, without requiring installation of a software agent on the remote computer. Computers you back up from must support Windows File Sharing (CIFS).
Note: Clientless backup is not supported on H-Series, X-series and V-series gateways. CTERA does not recommend setting up clientless backup.
Replication Rules
Rules you set up to periodically replicate files between the gateway and other devices in either direction. Replication rules are not limited to the local network. They also work for remote replication.
For example, you can set up your gateway to copy a certain folder on a daily basis to an external USB drive.
Note: Replication rules support replicating data between network computers using a variety of methods, including Windows File Sharing (CIFS), WebDAV, and RSync. You can also use replication rules to keep a local backup of a local folder.
