What Happens to Simultaneous File Changes?
With both CACHING and SYNC modes, different people can work on the same files at the same time, which means that conflicts can occur. CTERA keeps track of who makes updates and detects and resolves file conflicts when updates occur simultaneously. A file with the conflicts is written in the CTERA Portal so that users can verify the conflicts were resolved correctly.
CTERA records the history of file events. The changes made in the most recent update are always saved to the original file. Changes that are lost due to conflict are retained in a renamed version of the file.
Note: In order for conflict resolution to be performed correctly, your gateway clock must be synchronized with the CTERA Portal clock. If there is more than one hour difference between the two clocks (after taking into account time zone differences), the gateway will not synchronize the cloud drive folder.
